Boracay - The Family's first time 2012(Day 1)

Thank God! Despite the storm Ofel's strike across Visayas and Mindanao last
Oct. 24-26, The Family's escape to Boracay last Oct. 25-27 was not spoiled.
At least, we experienced both the gloomy and sunny day in Boracay.

Due to difficulty in the visibility for touch down in Caticlan brought about by
the bad weather, our flight via Cebu Pacific was cancelled but diverted to
Kalibo after an hour delay. Cebu Pacific was so generous that they provided
us a bus shuttle for our transfer from Kalibo Airport to Caticlan Jetty Port,
hence, another 2 hours were added to our travel time.

We left Manila by 9:30AM, arrived Kalibo Airport by 10:25AM and traveled
to Caticlan Jetty Port for another 2 hours via bus.

Purchase of ticket(banca or ferry) and payment of required fees in the port
were so easy and simple: Oyster ferry(50PHP), Terminal fee(100PHP) and
Environmental & Admission fee(175PHP)

We preferred riding the ferry over banca due to the weather condition that time.
It was only a 5-minute travel from the port to the island's Cagban Jetty Port.
The only hassle is the waiting time for the ferry to be off-loaded and filled with
passengers before departure.

Upon arrival at the Cagban Jetty port, we rented a multi-cab  for 250PHP
which brought us to our hotel - Astoria Boracay in station 1. Travel time was
around 15-20 mins.

We arrived 2:15PM at the hotel in time for the check-in. Checking in was just
a swift and we were provided with 2 welcome drinks.

Here are some of our hotel accommodation photos:

After a quick tour in our hotel, had a veggie pizza at the Yellow Cab just beside
Astoria then my son immediately jumped off the hotel's swimming pool.

My son loved the pool so much that it took us a long time to convince him that
its more fun to swim in the beach and build castle on the shore.

Finally, The Family is enjoying the crystal clear water and the fine white sand
of Boracay on a gloomy afternoon.

It was a dream came true...

I was able to see my childhood friend Cherry who lives in Boracay. Unfortunately,
she cannot join us as she has to travel to Manila the next morning. Anyways, there
will always be a next time for us.

It was almost dinner time when we're done with the swimming. We had our
sumptuous dinner at GASTHOF - Home of the Boracay Famous Baby Back Ribs.
Spent 2000PHP for a full order of baby back ribs, buttered garlic shrimp, and
clam soup which are just enough for 4 adults and 1 kid.  Plain rice and potable
water are free.

From Gasthof who cooked our food...

Strolling along the streets of Station 1 to 2.

And after a long tiring walk, we called it a great long day and night.
